As the evening grew darker
With no one around,
I felt like a caged bird
That chirps at every single sound.
With swollen eyes and puffy face
I cried my heart out
Miles away in a bustling city,
“Maa” my voice quivery and loud.
Pandemic had played its part well,
my bundle of energy lay calm and still
Pale face with a timid smile
was all that I could offer, against my will
Had never envisaged this anguish
The pain was hard to bear,
Invisible foe had made its mark
and hands were cold with fear.
With folded hands I sat,
A wish sealed in a prayer
Mind nestled in tranquility
saw hope and faith as the only players.
Like a Phoenix she rose
With renewed strength and vigor
She took the news in her stride
While fighting like a valiant warrior
Dark clouds had descended
New dawn gave a sly smile,
Moments waved with happiness
Deep realization that “Life is worthwhile”
